Stitcher's Playhouse was opened in February 2005 by best friends Ann Barnett and Jeanne Phipps, who both learned to sew at a young age. This love of sewing continued and after many years in other professions, these two creative people decided running a fabric business of their own would be fun! Stitcher's Playhouse is located less than a mile from downtown Smyrna in a yellow house that was Ann's childhood home.
The love of fabric is easy to see in all the projects on display inside. Stitcher's Playhouse has a large selection of quilting fabrics, books, and patterns. Building a big sunny classroom in 2016, the team has been able to offer a wide range of classes for all skill levels -- from beginner to advanced. Classes are limited to six people so everyone can receive personal attention and have enough space to work.
At the end of 2020, Ann Barnett retired and Laura Reed took over ownership and management of the business. She also learned to sew at a young age, and has developed a love of quilting since discovering Stitcher's Playhouse. With help from Ann and Jeanne and the rest of the team of skilled associates, she is continuing the traditions of beautiful fabrics, quality teaching and fun!
